We had found the right rhythm in Siargao. An activity, rest, an activity, the swimming pool. Bohol simply continued in this vein.
The resort we had booked was perfect for this. Perched in the greenery, a little removed from everything, with a room on stilts made of bamboo and woven wood, the sea in the background and the forest all around. The kind of place where you arrive, you put your bag down, and the rhythm settles itself. The swimming pool has become our headquarters between two outings.
We started with the tarsier sanctuary. We thought we knew these little creatures from photos, and we realized when we saw them that we had completely underestimated the effect in real life. Tiny, with eyes totally disproportionate to the body. We observe them in peace, in a protected environment. A nice break.
On the same day, the Chocolate Hills. More than 1200 perfectly round hills stretching as far as the eye can see, as if placed there by someone with a lot of time and a very particular sense of placement. The panorama from the belvedere was breathtaking.
We also took a boat trip on the Loboc River. We didn't expect much, this kind of excursion can easily turn into a tourist trap. But no, it was pleasant, the landscape passed slowly, the food was good. A nice surprise.
And then there was the diving. It's been ten years since we last put our heads under water. A refresher at Alona Beach, a really good instructor, patient and precise, and in an hour we were diving again.
Being underwater, surrounded by colorful fish, in warm, clear water, after all these years... it was good. We looked at the same thing at the same time and we both knew we had just found something we had left aside for too long.
We left Bohol in the same state as we arrived there, rested, happy, with the desire to continue like this.
