Legal notice, cookies and data protection
Essential information about this personal website, the data we process, the newsletter, cookies and your choices.
1. Publisher, controller and hosting
Publishers and data controllers: Matthieu and Sebastien, Swiss private individuals based in Lausanne, for the personal website matthieuetsebastien.ch.
Contact: use the contact form for any question about the website or your data.
Hosting: Infomaniak Network SA, Rue Eugène-Marziano 25, 1227 Les Acacias (GE), Switzerland.
2. Website purpose and audience
This personal website has no commercial or public search-acquisition purpose and is intended mainly for our friends and family. It lets them follow our journey, read our stories and, if they wish, receive travel news by email.
Information reflects personal experience at the time of publication. It is not professional advice and may be corrected, updated or removed.
3. Data processed and purposes
- Browsing and security: IP address, date and time, requested page or action, browser technical information, server logs and anti-abuse signals, to deliver the website, protect access and limit automated attempts.
- Contact: first name, last name, email address and message, to reply and follow up.
- Newsletter: first name, last name, email, preferred language, consent status and timestamp, confirmation token and technical information needed for double opt-in, sending and unsubscription.
- Friends and administration access: account, session and login traces needed for authentication, abuse prevention and secure website management.
- Consent: cookie choices, consent identifier and choice timestamp managed by CookieYes.
- Audience: if you accept analytics, page views, interactions, device, approximate area and traffic source through Google Analytics 4.
Depending on the context, processing responds to your request, relies on your consent, or is necessary for our legitimate interests in operation, security and abuse prevention. Where the GDPR applies, the corresponding bases are consent and legitimate interests.
6. Third-party content and links
Some pages may display YouTube videos through youtube-nocookie.com. Playing a video may still send Google/YouTube your IP address, device information and viewed page, and may use trackers depending on your choices and interactions.
Google Maps, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and other destinations are external links. Those services receive data when you open them and then apply their own policies.
7. Recipients and international transfers
- Matthieu and Sebastien and, where needed, recipients of our email accounts: messages, subscriptions and mailings.
- Infomaniak Network SA (Switzerland): hosting, infrastructure, security, newsletter-list storage and email services.
- CookieYes Limited (United Kingdom): management and technical evidence of consent choices.
- Google Ireland Limited (Ireland), Google LLC and its subprocessors: Google Analytics and YouTube, only when the relevant service is authorised or used.
Depending on the service, data may be processed in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, the United States or other countries where the provider operates. Where a country is not recognised as adequate, we rely on the transfer mechanisms and safeguards announced by those providers.
8. Retention periods
- Messages: while handling and following up the request, then for as long as reasonably needed to document the exchange or meet an obligation.
- Newsletter: until unsubscription or requested deletion, followed by limited evidence of unsubscription where needed.
- Accounts and sessions: while access is authorised; sessions end on expiry or logout.
- Technical and anti-abuse logs: for a limited period proportionate to security and incident diagnosis, then deleted or overwritten.
- CookieYes choices: up to one year unless changed or withdrawn earlier.
- Google Analytics data: according to property retention and Google rules; cookies follow the current CookieYes inventory.
9. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction or deletion, restriction, portability where relevant, or object to processing. You can withdraw consent at any time without retroactive effect.
Use the contact form. We may request information strictly necessary to verify your identity. You may also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or your local authority.
10. Security
The website uses HTTPS, access controls, protected sessions, anti-abuse limits and suitable backup measures. No connected system can provide absolute security, so we reassess these measures as risks and the website evolve.
11. Intellectual property, liability and applicable law
Unless stated otherwise, texts, photographs, videos, graphics, brands and website elements are protected. Substantial reproduction, adaptation or distribution without prior permission is prohibited, subject to legal exceptions.
We aim to provide quality information but cannot guarantee it is always complete, available or current. Third-party websites remain their publishers’ responsibility. Swiss law applies, subject to mandatory rules that may apply to the visitor.
12. Changes to this page
We update this page when features, providers or applicable rules change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
